Everybody Has a Story: An Intergenerational Storytelling Project

We are extremely excited to announce the success of this pilot project! The Intergenerational Project beautifully connected students and seniors through storytelling for health and wellness. Through online orientation sessions that highlighted the health benefits of storytelling to a student/senior matching session, we were able to truly witness the power of sharing lived experiences to promote a sense of community and belonging. The student/senior duo created personalized physical storybooks, concluding the project with a Community Celebration.

This pilot project truly embodies the vision of the BC Brain Wellness program: Brain Wellness, Beyond All Boundaries. Although the students and seniors were physically apart, they were able to bond on a deeper level and bridge the gap between the age difference that often silos people of various generations.

The BC Brain Wellness Program offers more than exercise and music classes; we are dedicated to promoting a sense of identity, dignity, and sense of purpose, ultimately to improve brain wellness, beyond all boundaries.

For a special student/senior feature, keep an eye out for our blog post coming up this week!

Participate in a Brain Wellness Program Focus Group

The BC Brain Wellness Program is looking for participants currently enrolled in one or more classes to join us in a focus group to discuss experiences with the program and its impact on your life. Feedback from the focus groups will be utilized to evaluate program impact and guide future program delivery.

All sessions will take place on Monday, June 20th, 2022 via Zoom. Participation in a particular focus group will be dependent upon the type of class(es) you are involved in:

  • 10:30 - 11:30 am (Exercise class participants only)

  • 1:00 - 2:00 pm (Creative/expressive participants only)

  • 3:30 - 4:30 pm (Participants in BOTH exercise and creative expressive classes)

Please note that all sessions will be recorded to allow the Brain Wellness team to better reflect on focus group content. As each focus group will be limited to 10 participants and we are hoping to engage a diverse group of participants, a representative group will be selected from those who express interest via the survey to participate in the focus group.

Click the button below to access the survey. The survey will close on May 27th. You will be notified by June 3rd regarding your participation in the focus group.
